After One Piece Chapter 1055 with Shanks, I think we got a closer look at the true capabilities of Conqueror’s Haki. I believe that those proficient enough in the use of Conqueror’s Haki are able to apply it with Armament and Observation Haki to perform very advanced techniques that only few are capable of.
We have already seen how Conqueror’s Haki could be applied with Armament Haki with the conqueror’s coating, but we had yet to confirm how exactly it could be applied with Observation Haki. At the end of the day, Conqueror’s Haki is simply the ability to impose your willpower on others. I believe that these applications are just the different ways that this can be done. I will go over what I think the applications could possibly be from what we have seen in the story.
Armament Haki
This one is the most apparent. Conqueror’s Haki can be applied with Armament Haki to create the conqueror’s coating that we saw Luffy, Kaido and the others use this arc. This coating penetrates deeper than Armament Haki would alone and is far more destructive. Known users: Luffy, Kaido, Big Mom, Yamato, Roger, Zoro, Shanks, Whitebeard and possibly Oden (off the fact that he was able to scar Kaido).
Observation Haki
This is the one that spurred me to create this post. I believe that Conqueror’s Haki can also be applied with Observation Haki and that was what we saw Shanks do in Chapter 1055 with Ryokugyu.
My theory is that Conqueror’s Haki applied with Observation Haki allows the person to sense and target people in a specific range to communicate, or rather impose their will, to someone telepathically/mentally. I believe there were three instances where we saw this ability used.
First was when Luffy was able to communicate with Momo after he was knocked off the rooftop by Kaido. It seemed that Luffy specifically wanted to speak only with Momo and that was why Momo was the only one who heard Luffy’s voice.
Now at first I thought this was the Voice of All Things being used since both Momo and Luffy have the ability, but the second instance this ability was used cleared up this misconception. Luffy used this ability again to communicate with Law’s crew to save him. The fact that the crew could hear Luffy’s voice indicates that the Voice of All Things was not being used here.
Now this brings me to the third instance, where Shanks seemed to be speaking with Ryokugyu from the outskirts of Wano. Now I don’t know whether Ryokugyu actually heard what Shanks said or not, but he sure as hell got the message.
To me personally, it seemed like Ryokugyu heard everything Shanks was saying. When Shanks said “I won’t call you marines cowardly or underhanded..” it seemed pretty clear that he was talking to Ryokugyu. Then Ryokugyu’s response also made it seem like he got the point and heard what he said. While Shanks is indeed known for his personal monologues, I do not believe this was one of them.
Now it’s possible that the Voice of All Things is also a derivative of the above technique since we have seen Roger, Oden and Luffy with the ability and they possess powerful Conqueror’s Haki. But the fact that Momo and possibly the members of the Three-eyed tribe are also able to use it makes me uncertain that the Voice of All Things has any relation to Conqueror’s Haki and leads me to believe it is an entirely separate ability.
To sum it all up, Conqueror’s Haki can be applied with both Armament and Observation Haki allowing the user the ability to impose their will both physically and mentally through the use of these advanced techniques.
